About the Therapist - Glyn Blackett
I'm a scientist by temperament and by training. I studied Natural Sciences
at Cambridge University and then Cognitive Science at Manchester University.
My involvement in therapy grew out of an interest in meditation- I've practised meditation
since 1989.
I first encountered biofeedback in the course of personal study of the connection
between mind and body, and a search for a means of meditation easier. I was immediately struck by its therapeutic potential,
and it's been a passion ever since.
Shortly afterwards I began training as a therapist.
My current interest in mindfulness based psychotherapy was a natural
development from my connection with meditation.
My early experience in therapy practice was at a natural health clinic in Manchester,
but moved to York where I established my current practice (York Mind-Body Health,
formerly York Biofeedback Centre)
early in 2005.
More recently I trained and qualified as a Nutritional
Therapist. Though I maintain my focus on psychological and developmental disorders,
this training enabled me to expand my approach.
